Installed software does not run

ratatosk
ratatosk
I have a 32 bit Linux Mint machine that used to run my software very nicely. I have upgraded it to:

NAME="Linux Mint"
VERSION="18.3 (Sylvia)"
ID=linuxmint
ID_LIKE=ubuntu
PRETTY_NAME="Linux Mint 18.3"
VERSION_ID="18.3"

The kernel is: 4.10.0-38-generic

I run my installation on SQL lite but I can not start the installation again after the upgrade.
I have tried to download a new version and install from fresh, but I get the same result.

Here is what a start attempt ends up in. Please assist if you can! I long for home...
/Ratsie.

    hey ratatosk. It looks like that the programm can't find or read the database file. Maybe you do  not have the rights to do this or the path to the database file has changed. How familiar are you with linux?

    Hi Ratatosk,
     did you install the full mono package? The easiest way should be:
    apt-get install mono-complete
    I hope Ubuntu uses the same package name as CentOS though...

    Hi again all!
    SOME progress is done.
    As for Linux expertise. Well, I am definitely not a guru but I am fairly able to scoot around and follow instructions in a terminal window. =) And I DO have some friends that are less blond than I am. =)
    The mono package was not fully installed, it is now (thanks Sheera! =) ).
    Since I keep the unknowns few, I verify one step at a time..
    Thus:

    1) The machine can run the OpenSim package (0.9.0.1) in a localhost configuration.

    2) The NAT configuration in the firewall is correct.

    3) I also made sure that my Metropolis Sim Server has the correct IP address (for the NAT).

    4) Did a chmod and chown on the metropolis package folder and all the content that I have as a
    backup (with my wonderful five sims and all)

    5) Tested the backup of my previously so happily running version, but it did not want to run.

    6) So I installed a fresh version of of the software downloaded from hypergrid.org. It did not want to run either. I got the same set of (rather cryptic) error messages.

    Below are the new errors messages derived from the log file. The errors look the same both in the backed up version and the fresh installed one. Any ideas?

    Hi Ratatosk,

    there still seems to be a problem with your database connection. Could you please post the beginning of the file:
    /home/lasse/bin/opensim/metropolis-os_0803_PLUS/bin/config-include/GridCommon.ini
    At the top of that file your database connection is defined and there seems to be a problem... But PLEASE do edit out your USERNAME and PASSWORD if you post those lines..

    Did you tried "mono OpenSim.exe" to start opensim instead of "sh opensim-ode.sh"? Or if that doesn't work "sudo mono OpenSim.exe".

    Are you really sure you have the rights? "chown -R username foldername" don't gives you a response. Try "chown -vR username foldername" and you will get a response. If your user aren't in the sudosers group, you have to: "sudo chown -vR username foldername".

    clemens_crispien!

    chgrp and chown
    I have redone the change group and change owner and the group and the files AND the folders are correct.

    mono OpenSim.exe and sudo mono OpenSim.exe
    Both these result in the same errors as indicated above in this thread.

    Sheera Kahn!
    We might be into something here....
    I have two installations on the machine. One is the old backup of the previously running installation. It actually lacks that file. I am try to use SQL lite.

    The OTHER installation is a fresh installation file pulled from the hypergrid.org site. There are no passwords in that file.

    I copied the missing file from the clean installation to the installation in the backup and it has booted.
    I logged into Metropolis and could see the sims on the map, but were unable to teleport to them.
    The sims are:
    Harjager, Libertine, Kanata, Luggude, Accadie
    Can you please see if you can connect to them or in any other way confirm that they are actually on line?

    Hugs from: Ratsie

    Here some info from inside the console about the sims. It looks fairly good. But I can not teleport there nor can I log in at specific sim or login at home.  WHAT am I missing here?

    can you post your regions.ini please? Router settings? Did you forward the ports 9051 - 9055 udp/tcp to the computer on wich opensim is running on.

    Router settings:
    ID What        UDP and TCP
    1.  Regions.     9051-9059        on intern and extern port. Leading to the OpenSim server.
    2.  Grid               8001-8021       on intern and extern port. Leading to the OpenSim server.
    3.  Simulator.   9000                  on intern and extern port. Leading to the OpenSim server.

    There are a few ports more than need to be open, but this should not hurt.
    This setup worked fine before. Nothing has changed in the infrastructure so it should work now too.

    Logfile
    I did a test in that I cleared the OpenSim.log and then tried to log myself in. There was no entry in the log so it is probably clear that something in my installation and something else at Metropolis are not talking.

    I'm not sure. Maybe it is only a copy paste error. But in your regions.ini i can see aptileStaticUUID instead of MaptileStaticUUID :) But i don't think that this is the problem. Du you have a dyndns domain or a static ip? Try to replace "SYSTEMIP" with your dyndns domain or static ip address.
